Back to School Information

The following is a message from Principal Karen Thomas:

We are ready to welcome our new and returning students to Cook-Wissahickon School on Monday, September 9th at 8:45 a.m.  Breakfast is free for all students this year.  Do not send children to school before 8:15 a.m. after which time staff are on duty to supervise students.  Breakfast ends at 8:35 a.m.  Students remain in the school yard until 8:45 a.m.  If you are late, you will need to enter through the Main Entrance for a late slip.  Please be sure to have your child here on time every day.  School ends at 3:24 p.m.  You will receive a letter if your child is eligible for bus transportation.  If not, parents are obligated to get their children to school on time and pick them up on time by 3:24 p.m. in the school yard. School lunch is $2 for students who are not eligible for a free or reduced-price lunch. Applications for Meal Benefits will be distributed to students on the first day of school or you can apply online now at www.compass.state.pa.us.  If you currently receive food benefits for your family and received a free lunch letter for your child, you do not need to reapply.  Students who received free or reduced-price lunches last year, will continue to do so for the first 30 days of school, but must reapply in order to continue to receive benefits.

Please make sure your child is fully prepared for school each day with academic supplies in a labeled backpack or book bag, a lunch or money for lunch, and proper uniform and shoes.  Please refrain from coming to the Main Office with missing homework, projects, lunches, or other forgotten items.  This helps your child to become responsible for his or her preparedness, and allows are office staff to remain focused on their duties.

Finally, Back-To-School Night is scheduled for Monday, September 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  More information is forthcoming about special events.
