There are so many great things taking place in our school this month, we can’t fit them all in this blog post. You’ll need to take a look at our May 2014 Newsletter to read about them all, including awards our students have won, student service projects and more! The Home and School Association had an amazingly successful 5K fundraiser last month (see great photographs from the event on the Newsworks website) and held a Beef and Beer to raise funds for the choir.
Some of the key events you should know about coming up are:
COME TO OUR CANDIDATES FORUM ON PUBLIC EDUCATION: This Thursday–May 8th, 5:30-6:30: This week we are hosting a candidates’ forum for the candidates running for State Representative in the 194th District. All parents, students, and staff from the school communities Cook-Wissahickon, Dobson, and Shawmont are invited.
SPRING MUSICAL: “Making the Band” on Thursday, May 15th: Students report to gym at 5:30; parents will be seated at 5:45.
TEACHER APPRECIATION LUNCHEON on Tuesday, May 20th. Contact Kristin Alexander if you would like to contribute a dish or supplies.
FUN AND FIT FAIR: Thursday, May 29th: This end-of-the-year carnival requires tons of parent volunteer help. Can you pitch in for an hour or more of set-up/clean-up, food tables, face painting, etc.? Please sign up here on the Sign Up Genius Website.
AND DON’T FORGET TO VOTE ON MAY 20TH! This election year (the May primary and the November general election) is critical for anyone who cares about public education in Pennsylvania. If you would like more information on candidates, ballot questions, or where your polling place is, please visit the Committee of Seventy’s website.
